I know that it’s summer right now, but last year, I wasn’t ready for the winter. It caught me unexpectedly and I didn’t have my snow tires on, my yard work finished, or my HVAC system prepared. This year, I’ve decided that I’m going to be ready to face the cold weather head on. So I’ve been doing some research to find out what I can do to get my HVAC system prepared for the cold winter. When the weather starts cooling down, it’s finally time to make the major changeover from cooling to heating. And with an HVAC system like ours that runs pretty much all year round, you really have to keep it in good shape to make sure that it works well both in the winter and the summer. I know that with the cold weather we get in our area, the last thing that I want to do is have to deal with is a broken down furnace system. And the problem with not preparing your heater for the winter is that you’ll never know if your furnace will last throughout the cold season! To get your HVAC system ready for winter, you should probably schedule a maintenance check with a professional HVAC technician to make sure there are no major issues. The other thing you should do is check and replace your air filters because it’s really important to the well-being of your heating or cooling unit. Sealing all of the air leaks that you can find is also important, since you don’t want your heating to leak out into the cold temperatures outside!
